Elephant Trunk's Elephant
When we first started this business nearly four years ago, we knew we wanted to donate money to a non-profit associated with elephants. It’s the least we can do if we are going to use their name, right? We did some research and adopted an elephant, Tarra, from The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee on our one year business anniversary in August of 2016.
The Elephant Sanctuary was founded in 1995, and Tarra was actually the sanctuary’s founding elephant! She was born in Myanmar in 1974 and had quite a journey as a performance elephant, until she was brought to The Elephant Sanctuary. Learn more about Tarra’s story here.
The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee exists to provide captive elephants with individualized care, the companionship of a herd, the opportunity to live out their lives in a safe haven dedicated to their well-being, and to raise public awareness of the complex needs of elephants in captivity and the crisis facing elephants in the wild. If you are interested and have the ability to donate, even a little bit, click here to do so! And maybe if you don’t have the funds to give at this point, just refer Elephant Trunk to your friends and family so we can continue to give!
